The McCormick Group’s Law & Government Affairs practice recently assisted in the placement of two distinguished litigators at two prestigious AmLaw 100 law firms.
Juan Morillo joined Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in May as a partner in the firm’s Washington, DC office. As a member of the firm’s global litigation practice, Morillo will advise clients in criminal and civil government investigations, conduct internal investigations, and defend clients in class actions and other civil lawsuits. Morillo was selected several years ago as one of the top litigators in the country under the age of 45. He joined Cleary Gottlieb from the Washington, DC office of Clifford Chance, where he was a partner and the head of the firm’s U.S. litigation and dispute resolution practice. Cleary’s hiring of Morillo was featured in a recent American Lawyer Daily article.
Paul Pelletier joined Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo PC in May as a member in the firm’s Wasington, DC office. Pelletier will practice in the firm’s white collar defense, health care enforcement defense and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act practice groups. Pelletier joined Mintz Levin from the U.S. Department of Justice, where he was Principal Deputy Chief for Litigation in the Criminal Division’s fraud section. During his tenure with DOJ, Pelletier led the agency’s fraud enforcement efforts in the wake of the recent financial crisis. He worked on and supervised major corporate fraud cases including the investigations of PNC, AIG, General Reinsurance, Enron, Qwest, and BP. In addition, he supervised the DOJ’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act unit at the national level. Pelletier’s first court appearance with Mintz was featured in a column in The National Law Journal.
