TMG’s monthly study of lateral moves in Texas revealed 30 partner and counsel moves in March down from 36 in February 2025 and up from 26 in March 2024.
Fifteen of March’s moves occurred in Houston, 13 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and two in Austin. All but three of the movers came from private practice with the two coming from government positions and one coming from an in-house position.
There were four group moves in March. One move was a Corporate/Banking group in Houston from Chamberlain Hdricka which moved to Bradley Arant. Another move was a Labor & Employment/Corporate group in Houston which moved from Kane Russell to Dykema Gossett. A third move was a Energy/Litigation group in Houston which moved from Alvarez Stauffer to Norton Rose Fulbright. The last group move involved a Real Estate group in Dallas which moved from Akin Gump to Willkie Farr.
Nine of the 31 lawyers (29%) were women, with three entering as partners. That compared to 13 of the 21 men who joined their new firms as partners.
Corporate was the leading practice area represented, with six attorneys, Other practice areas included:
