Legal Recruiting Principal Andi Cullins recently attended the first summit on The United State of Women, which was held on June 14th, 2016 and hosted high-profile speakers such as President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Warren Buffett, and Oprah. The summit focused on key gender equality issues in six pillar topics: economic empowerment, health and wellness, educational opportunities, violence against women, entrepeneurship and innovation, and leadership and civic engagement.

“5,000 people, overwhelmingly women, attended the largest summit of its kind sponsored by the federal government,” said Andi Cullins. “I was honored to be one in that number.”

Andi has previously written about gender equality issues, with a focus on the legal and corporate board worlds. Her articles, such as “Want to Be on a Corporate Board? Strap in for a Bumpy Ride…” and “Making it Rain While Maintaining Work-Life Balance” have been published in Law Practice Today and other notable sites. She has been interviewed by Shattering the Ceiling, won a Person of Vision Award from the Arlington County Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), and is also a founding member of The DirectHer Network, a group organized to be a proactive referral source for board-ready women.

“Women hold up half the sky,” said Andi. “We ought to be half the leadership.”
