Lateral movement grew by a whopping 52.3 percent in 2021, as firms substantially readjusted their lateral hiring programs after the initial Covid-19 wave. But it was a banner year under any circumstance, as the 760 partner and counsel moves reported in 2021 also represented a significant increase from 2019, which itself was a strong year for lateral movement.
