TMG’s monthly study of lateral moves in Texas revealed 34 partner and counsel moves in June 2024, down from 50 the previous month.

Seventeen of June’s moves occurred in Houston, 13 in the Dallas area, and 4 in Austin. All but two of the movers came from private practice with one coming from government and one from a non-profit.

Five separate firms reported multiple moves during June with no group moves.

Nine of the 34 lawyers (28%) were women, with six entering as partners. That compared to 17 of the 23 men who joined their new firms as partners.

Litigation was the leading practice area represented, with nine practitioners. Other practice areas included:
