TMG’s monthly study of lateral moves in Texas revealed 36 partner and counsel moves in February down from 55 in January 2025 but up from 14 in December 2024. Last February, we reported 31 partner and counsel moves.
Seventeen of February’s moves occurred in Houston, 12 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and six in Austin. All but two of the movers came from private practice with the two coming from in-house positions.
There were two group moves in February. One move was a Corporate group in Austin which moved from Greenberg Traurig to Perkins Coie. Another move was a Litigation group which moved from Reichman Jorgensen to Pillsbury Winthrop.
Fourteen of the 35 lawyers (40%) were women, with twelve entering as partners. That compared to 17 of the 22 men who joined their new firms as partners.
