TMG’s monthly study of lateral moves in Texas revealed 17 partner and counsel moves in October 2024, down from 20 in September. This number is also down compared to October 2023 when there were 24 moves. Nevertheless, lateral hiring this year remains substantially ahead of 2023’s pace.
Eight of October’s moves occurred in Dallas, 3 in Houston, 3 in Austin and 3 in San Antonio. All but two of the movers came from private practice with the two coming from in-house.

Ten of the 17 lawyers (59%) were women, with three entering as partners. That compared to 4 of the 7 men who joined their new firms as partners.
