TMG’s monthly study of lateral moves in Texas revealed 23 partner and counsel moves in April 2023, down from 29 in March. Eleven of those moves occurred in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with nine in Houston, two in Austin, one in San Antonio. All but one of the movers came from private practice, with one coming from an in-house position.
One group move was reported during the month, a move of two Intellectual Property partners from Shackleford Bowen McKinley to Bradley Arant Boult Cummings. Other firms reporting at least two lateral hires included:
- Bracewell (Dallas, San Antonio)
- Greenberg Traurig (Dallas, Houston)
- Jackson Walker (Dallas, Fort Worth)
- Norton Rose Fulbright (Houston)
Seven of the 23 lawyers (30.4%) were women, with five entering as partners. That compared to 11 of the 16 men who joined their new firms as partners.
Litigation and Intellectual Property were the leading practices area represented, with three practitioners. Other active practice areas included:
