TMG’s monthly study of lateral moves in Texas revealed 19 partner and counsel moves in August 2023. Eight of those moves occurred in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with 7 in Houston, and four in Austin. All 19 of the movers came from private practice. In July, 20 moves were reported.

Three separate firms reported multiple moves during the month, all of which were group moves. Those were a Corporate Group in Austin which joined DLA Piper from Shearman & Sterling; a Litigation Group in Houston which joined O’Melveny & Myers from Baker Botts; and a trio specializing in Banking, Litigation and Real Estate in Dallas which joined Seyfarth Shaw from Bryan Cave.

Six of the 19 lawyers (31.6%) were women, with four entering as partners. That compared to 12 of the 13 men who joined their new firms as partners.

  • Corporate (4)
  • Real Estate (2)
  • Intellectual Property (2)
